Danner’s Helps Arrest Two Suspects

Two suspected catalytic converter thieves are in custody after leading deputies on a chase early Tuesday morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told ABC13.

Authorities were called at about 5:20 a.m. to Enterprise Car Rental in the 17000 block of I-45 North Freeway after reports of suspects going into multiple vehicles and cutting catalytic converters off.

When deputies arrived, they found two men under a vehicle and tried to approach them, the sheriff’s office said. But that’s when the men jumped into a minivan they had staged on the feeder and took off.

The chase went down the North Freeway to West Gulf Bank and turned into the Acres Homes area.

Deputies used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle at W. Montgomery near Shepherd in north Houston after a nearly 30-minute pursuit.

“That’s where I was able to detain the driver. The passenger evaded on foot, where a K-9 and our helicopter was able to capture him and place him into custody,” Deputy Clinton Nash with HCSO said.

Nash said it was about a 10-mile chase with the driver speeding up and slowing down.

“We had other deputies go to Enterprise and locate the catalytic converters that they cut,” Nash said. The suspects had allegedly cut out two and were in the middle of cutting more when deputies initially arrived.
